Vintage Sports Car Club

Verenigd Koninkrijk Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire OX7, Verenigd Koninkrijk
(latitude: 51.948772, longitude: -1.530352)

The Vintage Sports Car Club was founded in 1934 by a group of young men following a proposition in the now defunct magazine The Light Car that aclub for the not so rich be formed. The main concern was that the heyday of historic motoring was coming to an end.

The original ethos still stands in that the VSCC is about actively enjoying our motoring heritage.

The membership spans a wide variety of people from all walks of life, and is currently topping an all time high of 7,500 members. The movement has a strong population of young, female and overseas members. The entire membership is extremely social which contributes to an atmosphere where an interest in the cars supersedes any concern for personal wealth or status.

What sort of events does the Club organise? The Club organise five race meetings a year at Silverstone, Oulton Park, Cadwell, Mallory and Donington as well as hill climbs at Wiscombe, Shelsley Walsh, Prescott and Loton Park. There are also sprint events, driving tests, navigational rallies and tours. In the winter and spring months, off road trials are very popular.

You will need a special licence to race, hill climb and sprint but not for our other activities. If you enjoy more relaxed pursuits you will enjoy our tours, we have many one day tours in the UK and occasionally organise European events.

Are there social activities? Most areas in the country have a local pub meet known as a noggin and natter which are organised locally, we will provide you with a list of these when you join. The Club has several social evenings including the Brooklands film show and supper in January and an annual Marshals dinner. All VSCC events thrive on a strong social element so dont forget to bring your picnic!

Do I have to have a replacement hip, black Labrador and a handle bar moustache? The owners of Pre-war cars are far from vintage. You will find a wide range of ages in the Club and will probably be very surprised to see that there are many young members and
